Her Royal Highness Princess Sumaya bint El Hassan, President of the Royal Scientific Society and Chair of the Board of Trustees of Princess Sumaya University for Technology (PSUT), sponsored the opening of the Third International Conference on Modern Trends in Computing Sciences (ICTCS25). The event is organized by the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences at PSUT, in collaboration with the Royal Scientific Society and with technical support from the IEEE Jordan Section. The conference features researchers from 33 countries and five keynote speakers from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Norway, and Germany.
The conference aims to establish an international forum for scientists, researchers, and practitioners from around the world to engage with their peers in Jordan in the field of computing sciences and technologies, exchanging ideas, insights, and research findings on emerging trends.
The opening ceremony was attended by former Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, H.E. Dr. Wissam Rabadi, PSUT President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, representatives from the institutions of Al-Hassan Scientific City, members of the university’s boards of trustees and deans, and a number of researchers and specialists from local and international universities. Also present were faculty and students from both the undergraduate and graduate (Master’s and PhD) programs at the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences.
In her opening remarks, Her Royal Highness welcomed the participants and expressed her pride in hosting such a prestigious event, reflecting the spirit of international collaboration and emphasizing that science knows no borders.
She said:
“Our universities and research institutions must serve as gateways to the future. By integrating emerging technologies and innovative thinking into our curricula, we prepare our students not only to participate in the digital economy but to shape it with vision and solid values.”
Professor Arafat Awajan, Vice President of the Royal Scientific Society for Research and Scientific Affairs and Chair of the Conference, stated that this third edition of the conference features a comprehensive technical program including specialized keynote lectures, knowledge discussions, and peer-reviewed research paper presentations.
Dr. Awajan added that over the course of three days, the conference will showcase more than 81 scientific papers from 33 countries, distributed across 20 in-person and virtual technical sessions, along with panel discussions on topics such as AI-powered startups, edge computing and machine learning for smart cities, machine learning in imaging and visualization for surgeries, data generation in education, digital forensics, incident response, and emerging threats.
He noted that the research papers cover a wide range of topics including artificial intelligence, data science, Internet of Things (IoT), robotics, cybersecurity, machine learning, and intelligent systems, with all accepted papers to be published in the IEEE Xplore Digital Library and indexed in Scopus.
Dr. Mousa Al-Akhras, Chair of the IEEE Jordan Section, expressed pride in the fruitful partnership with PSUT, highlighting the active IEEE membership of President Prof. Wejdan Abu Elhaija, Dean of the King Abdullah II School of Engineering Dr. Osama Abu Sharkh, and Dean of the King Hussein School of Computing Sciences Dr. Firas Al-Ghanem. This reflects their strong and ongoing commitment to academic excellence and international scientific engagement. He also noted that Prof. Abu Elhaija received the IEEE Region 8 Clementina Saduwa Award in 2012 for her outstanding scientific contributions, and praised the significant presence and achievements of PSUT staff and students in both local and international IEEE competitions.
It is worth mentioning that the conference provides a platform that bridges academia and industry, stimulating constructive scientific dialogues and opening new avenues for collaboration and innovation in the field of computing.
