WIE

WIE-Jordan is part of a global network of members and volunteers committed to supporting women engineers and scientists, while inspiring girls worldwide to pursue academic careers in engineering and science. Our focus is on empowering Jordanian women engineers by connecting them to the job market, motivating them to achieve their goals, and expanding their professional networks.

We believe that Student Branches are an ideal starting point for our volunteer efforts and for showcasing professional work. Currently, we have 12 branches in Jordan:

  • Yarmouk University
  • The University of Jordan
  • Jordan University of Science and Technology
  • Al-Balqa’ Applied University-Polytechnic
  • Al-Balqa’ Applied University-Salt
  • Al-Balqa’ Applied University-Al-Huson college
  • Mutah University
  • Tafila Technical University
  • The Hashemite University
  • Princess Sumaya University for Technology
  • German Jordanian University.
  • Albayt University

We work closely with all IEEE Jordan chapters, SAC, life members, young professionals’ affinity groups, and the Student Branches under the Jordan Section. In addition, we host the annual WIE-Open Day to celebrate our accomplishments and invite female speakers from various sectors to inspire more women engineers in Jordan to join our affinity group. Each year, we also organize workshops and seminars aimed at both students and professionals to enhance their engineering skills, including soft, research, and technical skills. We hold coffee talks to discuss the challenges faced by women in engineering and explore potential solutions. Furthermore, we engage with schoolgirls through events that encourage them to study and pursue careers in engineering. We also play a key role in the students’ teachers’ research program by fostering collaboration and facilitating students’ involvement in research and practical applications.

In 2024, we launched a WIE mentorship program aimed at supporting female engineering students by providing clarity on future opportunities, connecting them with industry and professionals,  guiding them toward careers and higher degrees studies in engineering, and enhancing both their technical and soft skills.

Our mission is to support Jordanian female engineers—whether they are students or graduates—wherever they are at work or at home. We aim to address their needs, enhance their skills, and help them stay up-to-date with market trends, ensuring they have the tools they need to succeed and shape their futures.
